Frequently Asked Questions
Are caregivers bonded?
All senior care staff follow Massachusetts regulations for being bonded and insured.
What are your hiring requirements for caregivers?
All of our home care services staff must meet the following: Current Massachusetts elderly care licenses and/or certification; nurse’s aide registry checks; English proficiency; written references; criminal history checks (CORI); drug screen; TB screen; all caregivers and staff are fully bonded and insured according to Massachusetts laws. Learn more about our hiring process and our commitment to client care.
Are all employees supervised regularly?
Absolutely! All caregivers are directly supervised by our Director of Nursing, who oversees all specialized elderly care and in-home senior care services staff. All home care services staff receive detailed instructions regarding clients’ needs. A supervisor is available at all times for caregivers to discuss their cases. Regular supervision is provided according to the client and caregiver’s needs. During the supervisory visit, the client’s condition and level of service are reassessed. All changes are reported to the family and/or physician. Caregivers who cannot meet the client’s or company’s expectations are dismissed.
Will a nurse return to the client’s house to check on the patient’s status and evaluate the caregiver in action?
Yes. Visits by your personal nurse are based on the number of hours the client needs weekly home care services. A registered nurse will return to the client’s home to check on the patient, perform a nursing evaluation, and evaluate how things are going. Caregivers are unaware of when these visits will occur, so they never know when their supervisor will be showing up.
How does Hahn Home Health Care choose my caregiver?
Many factors influence this decision, including what kind of home care services your plan requires, your location in Massachusetts, caregiver capabilities, and match-making! Part of the evaluation is simply meeting the client and trying to understand the client’s personality. This evaluation helps us match the client with a caregiver who not only possesses the correct skill set but also the correct personality.
Are you available whenever a question or concern arises?
All clients and staff can call us around the clock, 24/7/365, to speak directly to a nurse. When Hahn Home Health Care places a caregiver in your home, and a service or clinical problem arises, a nurse is always available to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Our office is in Southeastern Massachusetts, so we are never far away!
How much do home care services cost in Massachusetts?
That depends on what services you require, how many hours/week they’re required, and their duration. We’ll gladly discuss the specifics of specialized elderly care and in-home senior care services with you.
Are all caregivers employees of Hahn Home Health Care?
Yes, all home care services staff are employees and are not independent contractors. This distinction means Massachusetts’ workers’ compensation insurance covers them.
What’s the process for getting senior care services in my home?
A registered nurse will visit the client’s home and perform a home care services assessment. After completing the assessment, we develop a customized care plan; it determines what level of service is needed and what staff skill level is required. We encourage family input as we develop this plan. The care plan will never include more services than you need, but it will be adequate for staying safely in your home.
Are services available when I need them?
Our 24/7/365 on-call service covers our clients. Care is available for as little as 4 hours per day to as many as 24 hours per day. Only a 24-hour notice of cancellation of service is required.
How do I change the home care services we’re receiving?
Call us! We’ll be delighted to discuss altering our services. With Hahn Home Health Care, we understand that your needs will change over time. We are always prepared to offer specialized elderly care or change the in-home senior care services you receive.
What payment methods does Hahn Home Health Care accept?
We accept MasterCard, Visa, and personal checks.
Can Hahn Home Health Care assist with taking a client to a doctor’s appointment or a religious service?
Yes, we can arrange for home care services staff to transport the client to various places, be it a doctor’s or dentist’s appointment, for shopping, to the hair salon/barber, etc. The only additional charge for this service is a mileage fee to reimburse the caregiver.
Does Hahn Home Health Care ensure that a caregiver transporting a client has a valid driver’s license and maintains the proper auto insurance?
Yes, Hahn Home Health Care Inc. requires all home care services staff transporting clients to present a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Both of these are rechecked periodically to ensure employee compliance.
Does Hahn Home Health Care accept health insurance?
No, we are a “private pay” home care agency. However, we will help our senior care clients in Massachusetts submit paperwork for long-term care insurance and paperwork for the VA.
